Natural Rubber In Tires

Isn’t humankind also one of the biggest carbon sinks?
I was reading to the article http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/oco/news/oco-20090123.html – The Orbiting Carbon Observatory and the Mystery of the Missing Sinks. It staes that around 30% of carbondioxide disapear from the atmosphere bt whee it goes isn’t known. In the article there is no number about the carbon dioxide humankind does bind for example when turning trees into paper or Natural Rubber into tires. But a lot of human products imo do bind a lot of carbon. Maybe anyone out there has some source how much carbon-dioxide, carbon we remove from the natural cycle annually?
None. Mankind is not a carbon sink, much less one of the biggest carbon sinks. Even using your logic, “turning trees into paper or natural rubber into tires”, mankind does nothing to reduce atmospheric carbon-based gases (methane, carbon dioxide, etc.). Plants are probably the biggest carbon sink; they use sunlight energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into plant tissues (hydrocarbons) and oxygen.
